Your New Favorite Poem: It Begins

The First Website I Ever Made

So, this is the website I'm trying to build. The idea is it's a place to be exposed to a whole lot of poets you might not otherwise know about or have a chance to read. I'm hoping to build it to where you can click a button and get a random poem/poet. The "cool stuff" is still light years away. But right now, it's got three poets (Ocean Vuong, Layli Long Solider, and Mary Oliver). It's not live, it doesn't have a place to go, but I have done a thing, and it works (locally at least). I don't know how, or why, or anything else, but it works. I was very excited the first time I hit run and it actually created a page and had a link that worked, too. It was awesome.

I'm continuing with Code Academy for HTML. I haven't gotten to the CSS part yet. So right now, I know about as much HTML as a scene kid in 2001 does the first week they started messing around with their myspace. And really, their friend came in and did it for them. That's kinda how I feel, like my friend did this for me. But I did it. It's small and dumb and useless, but I made it. That's a pretty cool feeling.

So I know more today than I did yesterday, but I still know nothing. This is gonna be a long summer, I know it, but I'm looking for payoffs, and one happened today. I made links that work and a page that looks the way I intended it to. So I'm happy for that.
